TRAVELING BETWEEN VENICE AND THE AEGEAN SEA
From the newspaper Il TEMPO of February 28, 1996

Vanni

After a long artistic stay in France and Belgium, Vanni proposes a pictorial journey particularly dear to him: an ideal journey from Venice to Naxos. The Master's color palette was prepared for the occasion to accommodate a synthesis of water and light. The canvases are fiery, sparkle, flare, almost sparkle in showing the most essential images of Venice and the shining Mediterranean. Few characters or walls against which the silhouette of shadows or dazzling lights lead to a perfect chromatic harmony. The Master's vision goes beyond the face of things to discover their intimate and secret value. The source of inspiration does not arise from the mind, but from harsh reality. There is a sort of geometric will, the fluidity, the momentum of color rest on a linear path and a skilful contrast of colors. His gaze stops there where the junction of a thing or an atmosphere inspires him. The essential but at the same time also the immensity of the Venetian lagoon and the Aegean sea emanates from the artist's canvases. Nature is sumptuous and disturbing, it is located beyond itself: the plants are green, purple, yellow, with the foliage often tormented by the wind, the rocks cover the hardness and the light of the enamel, the figures are enigmatic silhouettes that they seem to be content with existing, the lines are of an insolent purity.
